    Sore throat after surgery

I had my lumpectomy yesterday. They took 2 lipomas from my left breast. That part went fine. I really haven't had any breast pain.

However, I woke up yesterday with one hell of a sore throat and today I swear it's worse. This is one thing I didn't anticipate.

I'm glad things went well overall.

Did they do anything to your throat? Intubate or put a scope down it or something?

I didn't ask but they had to have put a tube down it. I did have general anesthesia and I didn't have a sore throat before the surgery.

Glad to hear there is no breast pain, and hope the throat soreness goes away. I would imagine that they used a tube since you had a general. Hopefully it will start to ease soon!

If it keeps getting worse I'd try to reach the doctor just to make sure it's not a sign of something that needs to be addressed. I hope it gets better soon.

Thanks for the well wishes and suggestions. My partner looked at my throat tonight and she says it looks scratched, so if it's not better by Tuesday I'll give the doc a call. Frankly, I worried about a lot of things with this surgery, but a very sore throat wasn't one of them.

I've never had general anesthesia, but I've always been told that a very sore throat is normal after intubation ... but yeah, if it doesn't seem to be resolving, check with your surgeon. Glad everything went well otherwise. Hope the rest of your healing is quick and complete!

I've had a mild sore throat after my 3 procedures with general. Totally normal. I hope yours feels better soon. Perhaps gargling warm salt water would help...?

Glad your surgery went well, otherwise. Pamper yourself in the coming weeks of recovery.

Pampering yourself is totally called for, and take care! I don't remember much of a sore throat after my knee surgery, but I was on some rather heavy drugs for a couple days.
