    Helpful bike shop

It's a minor thing, but I like to share happy stuff.

Yesterday I cycled through 90 degree heat and Brooklyn traffic to an event. Arrived to find my bike lock totally stuck and unusable. This is entirely my own fault; I use the lock so rarely that I forget to lubricate it.

A helpful cyclist gave me directions to a nearby bike shop, and the shop got the lock unstuck and didn't charge for it. I was so grateful -- without a lock, I had no option other than going home.

The shop isn't close to where I live, but I will definitely buy something from them at some point!

A bike shop whose people know what they are doing and takes care of their customers is priceless and to be cherished. I love my local bike shop and the guys in it. I thank them every Christmas with lots of brownies and extra goodies during the year if they go above and beyond.

Good job always deserves a thank you. So glad you found a good one. It's worth going out of the way for.

That's why I frequent the LBS I do. They have done so much "free" stuff (simple stuff but in a pinch it mattered so much) and are so into helping women learn bike maintenance that I can't complain. I spend a lot of money there.

There is a shop here as well that goes above and beyond, I think. I am going to have to buy something from them before I leave.

My husband and I stopped in at a bike shop in San Luis Obispo while traveling- the cleats on my my road bike shoes were not even and the shop adjusted them for free, including having to spray something on them to get unstuck before adjusting them. And they gave us a great suggestion for a ride in the area. They wouldn't take a penny from us.
