    Great video! (interesting to see Zoetermeer footage, as I lived there for a few years)

It's part of what shapes the cycling culture in the Netherlands - it's not just one thing, but many (topography, infrastructure, education, legal structure, etc.) that come together.

    We went on a bike and sail vacation in the Netherlands this summer, and I knew it was the bike mecca, but I still wasn't really actually prepared for how awesomely easy and fun it is to bike there. I am a regular bike commuter, and not much scares me, but it was just so eye opening (and cool) to see what a bike-centric transportation system actually looks like.

    That sounds like a great idea -- sort of rain capris instead of rain pants. The first (and only) time I tried to cycle in the Gore-tex rain pants I use for camping I got so hot.
