As a hand spinner and knitter I have so " been there, done that and have the memorial t shirt." Of course I spent most of last summer doing recovery from a cross country bike ride and hiding from the daily 25 mph winds, by knitting every day while riding my indoor trainer and zoning out to podrunner and cadence revolution podcasts.
It's the first time I have done lot of knitting since we moved to houston mostly because I dislike knitting with cotton, and wool (handspun or otherwise) is just to hot to have in my lap most of the time even with ac and or a fan.
