Yep. It's only supposed to get up to 56 or so today.

It IS snowing here, a little, and sticking a little for the first time this year. Wait for it tomorrow.

I'm only an hour north of Savannah, GA. A high in the 50's means it's wintertime. Even all those unexpected snows the South had a few years ago did show up here.

68 and you were wearing a softshell jacket?! I would have been in shorts and short-sleeves and still sweating like mad!

Great bike. I agree that my typical road speed is cut about in half on single-track.

A soft-shell over a wool base layer. It was only 60 when I left.

Heh...I still would have been in short sleeves and shorts for 60.

I had a long sleeved compression shirt under a jersey and a wind breaker for 60 degrees today. Living in Texas has made me soft :-)

That's interesting. I can't recall where you live, but summertime is very humid in NC, and the MTBers were going strong all summer, roots and all. With the much longer days, that's prime riding time for those who work full-time. I rode MTB in the summer as well, but after many falls switched to easier/wider trails and left the singletrack, with its roots, switchbacks, and other hazards, to those more experienced than I. And I stopped falling and started having a lot more fun (double-track trails and fire/gravel roads).

Actually, one of the worst falls I had was on a wooden bridge over a creek covered in autumn leaves that were damp and thus slick. My tires slipped off to one side and I went down hard. I guess there are hazards most every season!

Funny stuff. I ran in 30 today and was a little warm with a mid-weight top under a very thin windbreaker and had to unzip my jacket and remove my light gloves. I have a friend in Houston who years ago said she could no longer do her regular walks. I asked her why and she said it was too cold...it was getting down into the 40s (meanwhile I was out running in the teens)!

It will ruin you living here :-) In the flip side in August when the temps drop to the 90s we call that a "cold front" and agree how nice it feels.

It tickles me to read about what people wear in different temps. 60 degrees is considered a very warm winter temp in Colorado. I ride in a sleeveless jersey and shorts at 60. I'm sure that I'd have to wear more layers at 60 if I became accustomed to the kind of heat that some of you experience in the south.

Wow! that is really something. If I ever learn to ride (so to speak), would love something like that, to ride in dirt. ( that is what its for, right?) Love the colors.
