    Picked a dress

I finally went shopping for my dress for Thom's parents' 50th anniversary wedding.

I run faster when I stick out my tongue.

I'll take it back in April for a final fitting and hemming. I've decided I'm not going to worry too much about my tans lines. I swim; I have tan lines.

Beautiful - tan lines and all! I went to a tennis fancy dress occassion a few weeks ago and all the ladies were proud of their sock lines! Pretty silly.

You look fabulous! You could always use some self-tanner to even out the lines if you're worried about them.

Very nice! And just be glad you swim outdoors and don't have cyclist's tan lines.

That is a beautiful dress. I was in a wedding where all the bridesmaids had strapless dresses. I bought a different swim suit that summer that wouldn't leave tan lines and was very careful all summer. Got there, and every other bridesmaid had big old tan lines and it didn't matter a bit, so I second your decision not to worry about it! Wish I hadn't.

Great color with your hair, V! Did you find shoes yet?

Why do men have it easy? Dark suit and nice tie which Thom probably already has.

Thanks everyone. I'm pretty happy with it. I feel like it's elegant and not at at all frumpy!

Thom has to wear a tux. When we get the dress hemmed, we're going to see if we can get a pocket square made out of the extra material. I haven't picked shoes yet. I think I'll go with silver ones, something like ballet flats. I think the highest heeled shoes I have now are 1/2 inch, so certainly nothing more than an inch or so. I'd like them to be something I can imagine myself wearing some other time. And I'm not an open toed shoe person.

We're getting manicures and pedicures a two or two before the event. I'm thinking silvery polish. Thom thinks it should have glitter in it. I'm not sold on glitter. We're having hair done the morning of. I'll time my cut and color for just before we fly to Maine and I'm just going to have the stylist blow it our nicely. I've got a really beautiful diamond and platinum pendant to wear and some lovely, long, white gold earrings with small diamonds in them. The earrings kind of look like sails.

I really do NOT like to shop, so I'm happy to have the major thing out of the way before Thom's parents visit at Christmas. Shopping at Neiman Marcus is definitely a different experience from what I'm use to. Maybe I'll even go back.

I love it! Great color...great choice! Yes, definitely elegant and not frumpy at all. I'm thinking way more va-va-voom than frump!
