I was thinking about trying to put together a TE ride for sometime around Xmas. Maybe in Charleston? Open to ideas. Anyone?

Or anywhere in the SE. Was thinking the coast is warmest that time of year.

Well, if you went as far south as Florida I would go. I'd be the pokey one bring up the rear.

The trails you mention are a good 10 hour road trip from here. Any plans to go a little farther north?

Yes, but not until March. Then I will be in the Carolinas.

Wonderful! And I hope to have a Surly by then, of course, sounds like you'll be on the Madone more? Trail riding sounds fun.

Hmmm.. I might be able to get up to NC in early March, but there are a lot of variables there. We'll certainly see!

    Hi Muirenn,

I was in Charleston over Thanksgiving but will be spending Christmas in VA. I should be down your way sometime in January. You're in Beaufort, right? I'm not finding good trails to ride in Charleston yet and am not comfortable enough riding many of the roads, I guess VA has spoiled me.

When I plan on spending at least a week in Charleston, I'll give you a shout and maybe we can meet up for a ride. Have you ridden in the Francis Marion Forest yet?

I haven't, but that sounds like a good plan.

Depending on the time, I could probably do NC in March as well. Of course, I'll be competing for last place as well

    Where in NC?

The region we are all discussing is quite large, wouldn't mind setting up a couple of rides. Haven't heard of anyone in this area from TE doing a get together. And I'd love to with as many as possible.

Need to figure out what kind of bikes will be needed for which groups. Makes a difference for location (For example).

Pulling up this old thread to inquire if this was a success? It sounded promising. I plan on coming to Florida to ride in late Jan to early Feb. But, I can be flexible, if perhaps there was something planned. I was looking at the Lake Okeechobee Scenic Trail as an alternative to the Adventure Cycling Florida Keys Tour. The last 2 days of that tour are 78 and 72 miles. That sounds intimidating to me. I'd be participating solo and would hate to trail behind and lose everyone or frustrate the leader who will be riding sweep. I've never participated in a tour, or group ride. Anyways, not meaning to be long winded... just wondering about this thread outcome.

It didn't happen, but then I ended up injured. In fact, it was on the 1st of December, 2012. So 3 days before the above post. This could work unless I'm in school. (I'm undecided about next semester, may wait until summer).
