    Exceptional customer service at LBS

When we decided to upgrade our MTBs we had a few things in mind for what we wanted. My partner was extremely interested in the Fuel EX8, but our local shop didn't have one in stock. She was all set to buy the bike without actually getting to try it first. But, one of the mechanics/sales people there had a bike in the size she wanted with the same geometry. However, his was the 6k carbon version. He told her not to order the EX8 yet, to take his bike for the weekend and try it out on the trails and see what she thought first. He even took her out riding at one of the more technical trails himself. Now that's what I call service.

Until we really started shopping for bikes and buying bikes I never understood how important it was to have a good LBS. It's made a world of difference for us.

On the flip side this same LBS gets a lot of money from us because we know we have been and will continue to receive excellent service there.

I just wanted to share a positive story. I know we've all had horror stories when it comes to LBS, but there are some really good ones out there as well.

The service at my LBS is consistently awesome. Not the closest to my home or office, but worth the trip.

I feel you on that one. I haven't even let her ride my steel bike. It's MINE!! LOL. Maybe he's more blase about it because he has two full carbon bikes. One, the full suspension (which is the one he loaned her) and then he has a hard tail that he races on. That's the one he rides the majority of the time.

Wow! I would have to think twice before I even lend one of my bikes to a good friend for a weekend, especially trails.

By the way, you should totally post your bike shop's name/salesman and location for any interested TE member.

It's http://northwestcyclery.com/ and our sales guy was/is Dary. They have 3 locations, but we've only been to the Northwest location.

I had a similar experience when I was shopping for a carbon road bike. The owner of the store is around the same height as me so she brought in her bike so I could take it for an extended test ride. Turns out that I needed the smaller size and so they put her wheels on the smaller model and said take it for as long as you like. And I fell in love with the bike but didn't buy the test ride (it was 105) so they ordered the ultegra model for me. Then they set it up perfectly and unlike my previous bike, I have no niggling lower back pain.
