I understand needing to upgrade so stuff doesn't crash, but for what I do on the forum (read posts in the regular threads, no subscribing or looking at things that are only new), I don't see any change in the way I use TE.
    Hi Crankin,

The primary reason behind the upgrade is to stay on the current version so we can continue to get security updates.

There isn't much in the way of new functionality that we are using (there is a "blogging" feature and some Facebook integration that I haven't turned on -- it can post to your facebook page whenever you post here -- didn't think anyone would really want that!)

    Hi Bike Writer,

There is a key to the meaning of the envelopes ("Icon Legend") at the bottom of each thread-listing (forum) page, for example:

If you only look at "new posts" the legend isn't there, you have to go to one of the forums. Just to let you know, the orange ones are hot topics. Blue ones I guess are cold topics.

    That's exactly what I thought.
But, then when I thought of FB, I thought it would be easy to just "like" your post, LOL

Now this thing keeps telling me posts that I read 2-3 days ago are "new" (even though I've logged in about, oh, 10 times since then). Weird. Too confusing for such a crazy day!

    Hi Jess,

Please let me know if this keeps happening to posts you read going forward. A few hours ago I, in an effort to get "ignored threads" working, I switched a setting to keep track of read posts in the database instead of using a cookie file on your computer. That change is probably what is causing the behavior you are seeing. However, posts you read going forward from now should properly get marked as read - let me know if they don't!

    Thanks,
    Jeff

Whew! Glad I'm not losing it. I actually was really confused if it was happening because of network issues in my office. Thanks for the info!

I was sleepy this morning when I fat fingered my password...did I also misread the part about having to wait 15 minutes before trying again?
Sometimes I only have 15 minutes to look at the forum.

    More weird sign in problems.
Typing my password at the top--I know it's right, because it shows up--not dots, but the actual characters. Then I get an error.
If I sign in in the middle of the page, then it works.

That happened to me this morning also. It worked when I refreshed the page.

We used to have the "Ignore this thread" option. Can we get it back please?
