Hi there! I'm in Fort Lauderdale as well. There are quite a few groups in the area. Do you have a road bike? If so, let me know what speeds you feel comfortable with and I can give you some more suggestions. Feel free to PM me if you prefer.

Hi Everyone,
I recently moved to Fort Lauderdale and would like to join an outdoor
cycling group to get fit and make new friends. I am in pretty decent
shape from indoor spinning and swimming but would like to join an
outdoor group that is for beginners and hopefully excel to next level.
I am 48 years old so maybe a group in my age range would be better.
Any suggestions or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
I live two blocks from A!A and the beach. It would also be great if I could
find a one on one coach to train me.
Thanks so much.

I live up north from you a bit and ride A1A pretty much every weekend, often starting in Pompano or Boca Raton, heading North, as it's a less-trafficky, more enjoyable ride that direction. I'm 52 and ride with friends, not really a group, that are about your age, all pretty much new to cycling. We usually do a longer ride on Saturday (50+) and a shorter one on Sunday (30-40), leaving around 6AM (too hot otherwise) with often a breakfast stop at Luna Rosa's in Delray. If you'd like to join us, or I'd take the time to meet up with you and just ride one weekend, send me a pm. Also, there are so many cycling clubs in the area, and they break their riders into groups based on mph. I'd check with a local bike shop (i don't know the ones in Ft. Lauderdale). The Boca Raton Bicycle Club is huge and has rides all week and a website calendar. I haven't gotten together with them yet, but have met members, who all seem enthusiastic and really nice. Welcome to Florida!

I moved up to Winter Park from Ft.lauderdale about a year and a half ago- I can help steer you in a direction as I rode down there for about 4 years.
First question are you east, closer to A1A, or west, closer to Weston?
