For the first time. Did a trial run. 15 miles round trip. Didn't know I had it in me. I'm sick of feeling like no matter what I do I'll never be in shape so I'm taking it one step at a time. Felt so good at the end!!! I have a (numbing!) feeling that I'll be upgrading to a new saddle soon, though.

Good job vegan chick!
Woot woot!!! Good on ya!
Be careful, tho. This biking for transportation thing has been known to become habit-forming!

Way to go!
I remember when I did my first exploratory, thinking that it wouldn't be possible.
Each day is a gift, that's why it is called the present.
Fantastic -- congratulations to you!

You rock! Keep it up. You'll be surprised how often you don't have to fill up your gas tank. My commute is about the same as yours, although I often take the long way home. Work now feels like what I do between bike rides!

Love my bikes
Awesome! Do you plan to do this every day to work?
I've ridden my road bike in a few times, but on Monday I rode my Kona Dew Plus, with my new panniers. 23 miles round trip. That bike + bags = much heavier. And they may not be the right bags for the bike, according to my own opinion based on issues I was having, and a friend who commutes on her bike all the time. So, still some kinks to work out. And it sure takes more planning for me to do this. More prep time the night before. But I'd love to try and do this two-three times a week. I also want to get past the - dang this is hard - phase and on to the - wow this is a great workout - phase.

Warning, it's addictive. On days that you can't ride for whatever reason, you'll be fidgity and anxious.
Queen of the sea beasts
I did an exploratory today on a new route.
Everything old is new again.
Each day is a gift, that's why it is called the present.
Yep. A nice ride interrupted by 8 hours of work
I used to dread our company's quarterly meeting because it was always off-site and always some place new. Now I can *almost* look forward to it because I get to try to plot a new route. I've found some great road this way. OK, and several not-so-great, but I do find that commuting regularly has made me a bolder rider, willing to forge new trails.
Welcome to the fold! And congrats!

Congrats! It's an awesome way to wake up in the morning and a great way to feel accomplished and blow off steam going home.

Congrats!
I can do five more miles.
I cannot say enough awesome things about padded bike shorts/skirts/capris. You DO NOT want to wear them anywhere but when riding, but they are pretty much my most favorite of all time in the history of forever! After an 18 mile commute (round trip distance), my a$s says, "go girl, we got another five miles on these cheeks!"
