There is something we can do Just take a few moment to check Craigs. Not just Seattle but surrounding areas' Portland, Yakima, Bellingham etc.

I just got back from Counterbalance and let the boys there know. Mimi and Don they send their concern and sympathy!

They have zero sympathy or tolerance for bike thieves. The wrench I spoke to said he did not think it will turn up at their shop because these scumbags know to avoid the higher end shops. Counterbalance also does not sell used bikes, or not often so they might not try there. But they posted it to their board and will let all employees know.

If they do turn up the wrench said he has not problem knocking them out (he personally trains in Jiu Jitsu). He said when obvious thieves come in they will engage them, let them know they are on to them and the crooks leave .... without the bike. The reunion process starts there.

That's what happens when people with a bike they don't know, fit or deserve come into an LBS.

He said we should scour Craigs especially the surrounding areas and to check these shops which do sell bikes:

Whistle Stop Co-op (he said they are relatively new) on Othelo and ML King
    Bike Works and
    Recycled Cycles (both locations).
Fancy Schmancy Custom Road bike ~ Mondonico Futura Legero
Found on side of the road bike ~ Motobecane Mixte
    Gravel bike ~ Salsa Vaya
Favorite bike ~ Soma Buena Vista mixte
    Folder ~ Brompton

If I remember correctly from when I was searching for my own stolen bike, you can do a sitewide search of Craigslist, instead of searching individual cities, by typing "site:Craigslist.org/bik Davidson" into your search engine.

I did it just now and it seemed to turn up results from all over. No Katrina, however.

I'm hoping she finds her way home somehow, and soon.

I think we need to be searching for more than Davidson.

Chrome Road Bike, Black Commuter bike, etc.

I just did a boatload of searches of all the Washington State Craigslist sites.

Good idea. I think the scumbag might either:

Not know the value of a Davidson bike so not mention it or ...
Know the value and the community and not want to draw attention to it. Just sell for the hit of crack the ditwad needs

So searching "road bike" "steel" the number of gears may be best etc

http://www.searchcraigslist.org/ for the entire Craigslist site or search different regions.

Perhaps dropping fliers with pictures of the bike in those shops would be helpful, so they are on the lookout?

I hate to say it, but we should probably search parts too - particularly the distinctive stuff (e.g., saddle, if something's campy, etc.).

Do you mind if I post to a few other groups (one cycling, one not, though it contains cyclists) to spread the word?
At least I don't leave slime trails.

I can't imagine that it would be a problem. Whether to post a stolen bike alert to Craigs is a close call, and their decision. Otherwise, I think asking folks to keep an eye out should be OK.

I let the guys at 20/20 Cycles (just down the block from me) to keep an eye out for it. They said if they see someone with it, they'll tackle them...

I'll keep an eye out for it at bike4pdx. Its a volunteer bike shop where we fix unclaimed bicycles (stolen bicycles) and such and donate it back to the community. I'm one of the volunteer wrenches there and will let one of the wrenches who do have a regular day job as a wrench to keep a lookout.

I'd email Jonathan at bikeportland.org too! He might be able to run something so people here keep an eye out too.
