    So new..what to wear??

    Hello all!

I am trying my first sprint tri in 1 month, and have no idea what one wear to such an occasion.

I found online tops that I can swim and then bike/run in. Will I need to throw on a shirt on top in case of sunburn? It really is a short race.

My real problem is the bottoms. Are tri bottoms pants that I can swim/bike and run in?? do I need to worry about chafing especially when wet?? these shorts are tight - would I be wrong to wear a running skirt or something? would that, then, be too many layers (tri bottoms plus skirt which typically have shorts too)?

My body's not the greatest after 3 kids (muffin top!) and don't want it all to hang out there and scare everyone!

    Thanks for all advice!!

I wear a tri top and tri shorts. I throw on a skirt in T2 just before I head out for the run. I have never worried about or gotten chafed in a short race. I only put on chamois cream before the bike for an IM distance race, but everyone is different. If you're worried about chafing, try a more waterproof lube like Aquaphor. If it's a short race, you probably won't need to cover up too much to prevent sunburn- just put on sunscreen well before you swim.

When is your tri? The first one is so much fun- and then you just can't stop (kinda like Lay's potato chips- you can't do just one).
