    A modest return...

It's been 6 months and 3 days since my fall on the mountain bike trail and resulting whiplash injury. Today...I rode an entire 3.5 miles (thereabouts) on a very easy beginner trail, and it felt wonderful. My neck was fine with it during the ride, if there are no repercussions tonight then I am good to go

I took it very easy during that first lap and my body seemed to remember what it was supposed to do Even found myself out of the saddle on some gentle "downhillish" sections without thinking about it.. An evil tree did try to grab my bar a time or two but I saved it - no falling over at all. The couple of times I came close I was able to...just...stop without falling.

A very modest beginning/return indeed, and I will take it with gratitude

Here is the photo to commemorate this occasion...I do have to admit that there was a time when I wondered if I would ever be able to return. My supervisor continues to try to talk me out of mountain biking but I am not listening, politely of course! One of these days, perhaps, I won't be by myself and can actually get one with both me and my bike in the same photo... BTW, the ride last night wasn't planned but the weather was perfect and this weekend things will likely be too wet so I grabbed the opportunity.

She IS, she was probably stir-crazy from not leaving my bedroom for 6 months except to get her winter tune-up/cleaning!
