    I live in Amish country... but it's the one in IL not PA.

    Yes! (Although as with most things religious, it might depend on the sect.) There's an Amishman who's been riding his bike to work in my small town for years, way before cycle commuting gained any cachet.

    I was on an organized ride through Amish Country, the little kids lined up on the fence rails like little birds and waved at us, it was really sweet.

    A few miles into the ride I was riding along on my 21 speed carbon fiber covered bike, wearing spandex while huffing a puffing... only to be passed by a very pleasant young Amish man riding a 50+ pound old steel bike... and hauling a trailer. He said hello as he passed me like I was standing still.
