    First crash, immortalized

Turns out I should have used mud tires on Sunday. :P Someone captured this shot of me sliding into the grime on the first lap. Now both bike and I are broken in.

Broken? How broken? Hope you and the bike heal quickly.

Don't freak out too much... the photo was taken using flash, panning and a whole lot of post processing in Photoshop.... (to add a lot of the motion blur). The actual crash probably wasn't nearly as dramatic as it looks.... from the gallery, it looks like lots of people got good and muddy in that corner

(and she said "broken in" - not broken)

Bike and I are both okay, thanks! A bit of mud ground into the handlebars is all. It didn't actually hurt. I had just come out of a difficult corner and was relaxing when I hit a mud patch. Fortunately I was not going very fast, and just kind of slid gently into the mud. I'm tickled that the photographer got such a dramatic shot out of it, though. It cracks me up.

I did go down later in the race on my left side (that hurt!) and now have a big bruise on my thigh to show for that one.... :P Good luck, bluebug! You will have so much fun.

Terrific photo, I think you should have it framed and keep it!
Glad you fell on each side, so you are evenly bruised

CX bikes are SUPPOSED to be dirty! My road bike is actually dirtier than my 'cross bike, right now (just rode 35 miles, 20+ in the pouring rain)...and it irritates me!

Hehe. The same thing happened to me a few weeks ago, and I felt the same way. (Come to think of it, the road bike is *still* dirty.) Now it feels like my cross bike is finally legit.
