Hi Pardes, good to see you!

Hello Folks!
I thought I'd drop by to celebrate my 5 year anniversary of ditching the car and being an every day bicycle commuter.
Thanks to many of you, I've fine-tuned all aspects of commuting and these days, I don't think about it anymore. Other than how much I love it. How much positive difference it's made in my life physically and emotionally.
I no longer count the miles I've traveled or think twice about jumping on my bike to go anywhere, and I mean anywhere under any conditions. It just is.
AND I still love it every single day as much as I did 5 years ago.
I thought you might like to read my new blog entry about how I've combined bicycling and writing a novel.

Thanks everyone. It is so good to see all of you again.
As you can tell I love my bicycle and I love writing.
The only problems I'm having these days is with well-intentioned people who insist they drive me home because it's raining. Or it's dark. Or it's hot. And a hundred other "ors."
They just look at me as if I'm insane when I say I like riding in the rain, dark, heat, whatever.
On the other hand, I've overheard them talking to others and saying, "I've got this eccentric friend who gave up her car and rides her bike everywhere. Imagine that, she has crippling arthritis, is no spring chicken, but crawls up on that bike as if she was a kid...and oh my how I wish I could be like her."
So fellow cyclists, whether you are a bicycle activist or just someone who bikes, be aware that you are influencing America to be more GREEN and more active no matter what your age. And happy. And content.
Who would have thought a simple little bicycle was capable of doing all that?

Pardes,
As soon as I read your post and visited your blog this book came to mind. As a writer and an "eccentric" I think you'd enjoy it. Full of short stories from other eccentrics including more than a few women riders.

Ride safe.

Laguna, I will definitely check out that book. Thanks.
Okay, so I've written another blog with a tangential reference to biking.
I consider writing blogs my candy bar treat after managing to write 1500 words on the novel today.
