Iron Man Triple Brew Pub Tour (aka Bellevue/Bainbridge/Port Townsend/Whidbey Island

Here are two links to our Blog and the Crazy Guy Journal about our great four day bike tour. The weather could not have been any better! After the ride, we spend 3 days camping with family at Lake Kachess in the Cascades THEN I had the luxury of extending my vacation - took the float plane to Friday Harbor and spent another 4 days in the San Juan Islands on my cousin's boat. Did not take the bikes but that is already on the list for next summer. I will say I finally got on my bike yesterday and felt like I was a racer, so light without all my touring gear. I have photos on my flickr page but can't seem to get my TE album to let me post photos here, will keep trying

Great blog, but I feel a little cheated. I read about only one brew pub and expected three.

I know!!! We were brew pub deprived. Thanks heavens for the Beer Fairy on Whidbey Island. She and her BF drove six miles to town from the campground and bought beer just for us. I failed to get her name so we now think of her as the Beer Fairy and she holds a special place in my heart I pledge to pay it forward at the first opportunity.

You were in my back yard!!! I live about 4 miles from the Coupeville (Keystone) ferry terminal. I'm so glad you enjoyed cycling on Whidbey. It can be some work riding the back roads, but well worth it!

Also, the interurban trail that gets you to the Burke-Gilman (from Mukilteo/Everett) confuses locals too!

Thanks for sharing and nice job!!!

And...I definitely recommend riding in the San Juans. You can ride from Whidbey across Deception Pass (beautiful!) onto Fidalgo Island so that you can catch the ferry from Anacortes (on Fidalgo Island) to the San Juans. We call it our "island hopping ride". Let me know when you decide to do it...maybe I can ride with you!

    Dog,
I would love to hear about the interurban trail that speedway riding was sketchy, fill me in while it is fresh in my head. Thanks
