    going when you aren't welcome

I'm very active in our local dog club - a club which is getting very large and therefore has 'personalities' in it. The agility group is somewhat tight-nit group.
One of the chief women in this group (probably the unofficial "leader") doesn't like me. We are both adult and get along fine, but we've just never see eye to eye. Another woman very integral to this group and I have had words. I was right to be angry, but wrong in how I went about - totally utterly and completely wrong. I was an idiot and unfair. I've apologized as publicly as I blew up. It's been 6 months, and it took a couple of months for this woman to talk to me again. (childish, IMHO)
These women go on public events, both for fun and for charity, and emails always go out "who wants to come, let us know and we'll send details"... and the same core always go.
I really want to go. But, I know that I'm only welcome because I'm a member of the club, not really welcome and not really wanted.
What would you do: go in the spirit of continuing to try and make amends? go because you want to and don't care what they want? Continue to "keep your head down" and not do club events?

I don't feel the need to make a best friend, I just want to get along.

You say it's been 6 months since "the incident." I'd say go, head up, smile, let byegons be byegons (or however it's spelled!), no chip on your shoulder, pretty much carry on like nothing happened.

You're there for the doggies. Do they dwell in the past?

I love this. I agree. I'd try to just go, act normal, and get past everything. Good luck.
