I'm headed to Mazama for 4 days of X-C skiing. That is all. Just wanted to share my excitement.

    Have fun!

I'm still waiting for the shop to say my new skis are ready to be picked up (with bindings attached).

Please post some pictures. I have been wanting to go here forever, because even though it's in a great location for reliable snow, it's at a lower elevation.
I just can't handle much over 3K feet elevation, unless I give myself lots of time to adjust to the altitude and then I still can't exercise like I usually do. I had a horrible time in Boulder a few years ago, and it got even worse as we went to places at 8-10K feet.
I want to ski in the west, but this is stopping me.

Crankin, you would love this place. It is definitely mostly below 3000 feet. The snow is great and the grooming phenomenal. There are literally more than 100 km of trail and much of that is along the valley and mostly flat. We didn't take that many pictures because it was kind of socked in most of the time we were there and we were too busy skiing. But I'll see if I have a few good ones.

Elevation... now there's an issue that I hadn't thought that much about. Living at sea level (or there abouts) for the past 10 or so years probably means my acclimazation to altitude has worn off.

I don't necessarily need (or like) flat trails for x country skiing... in fact, I am used to steeper type climbs. It's really just the altitude that bothers me. When I was younger, I never associated the fact that I was light headed and dizzy every time I went to Flagstaff.
The skiing sounds awesome, Wahine. We'll be planning a trip sometime in 2014, probably.
