Here's something that some of those on Team Estrogen might enjoy, a chance to compete for a good cause.

On April 17, 2011, the first ever Brooklyn Bun will race through Brooklyn’s Prospect Park. The course will take participants on a counterclockwise circuit of the Park’s internal roads. Leading off the event is a 20k bike race featuring a time-trial style start. Once athletes complete the bike segment they will transition to a 5k run along the same course and finish on Center Drive. A post-race Finish Festival complete with Awards Ceremony will take place on the grass in the Nethermead.

A few months back, I posted about Team Continuum, a group that provides immediate and vital, non-medical, assistance to cancer patients and their families where the diagnosis results in disruption, hardship and uncertainty in their everyday lives.

In order to raise funds and maximize the number of patients Team Continuum helps; they offer charity spots in various athletic races. Each year a number of athletes run the ING NYC Marathon for Team Continuum, spots are available now for the 2011 race, click the link below for entry:

A quick update Team Estrogen, for those who want to get involved:

Recently, Team Continuum has embarked on the creation of a new site to help cancer patients. Pixels of Promise, is a site that is designed to illustrate the work that Team Continuum does to help those affected by Cancer. The Pixels of Promise site really gives insight into, the athletes who participates in TC events and those who are directly affected by Team Continuum's efforts.

It's a great site, and a great way to get involved and help those who need it.

So many are doing their part. For example, Don Wright, who lives in the greater Minneapolis area. Don is planning to run marathons in all 50 states. He is running despite the fact that he has had cancer for more than eight years. And despite the fact that he is 70 years old.

He's a great example of the drive to help, even when he himself is a patient.

The site is here:Pixels of Promise
