    Let's talk apps...

so DH surprised me with an iPhone 4 for Xmas, and I am having fun using my new toy, um tool.

I'm looking for app suggestions. There's a lot to choose from!
Weather (there doesn't appear to be a NOAA app)
    word games and puzzles
what ever else you think is cool.

    My favorite apps:

    New York Times
    NPR News
Pandora (free "radio" based on themes or groups or songs you choose)
    Relative Pitch (musical training)
    100 pushups (oooh, exercise)
200 Squats (oh, no, MORE exercise!)
Netflix (watch streaming movies on your phone for free with Netflix account)
Free Books (all the classics, all free, and the option to read them on a black screen so no disturbance reading at night in the dark)
Louvre (the museum, just fun. And free.)
Patagonia (you can select sales, and even shop from the phone)
Tesla Toy (duuuuude, this app is AAAAAWESOME!)
Zen Timer (works great for naps as well as meditation times)

If you have access to a Costco, I really recommend an iHome device of one sort or another. (from $30 for a simple speaker/charger, all the way up to $50 for a speaker/charger/lamp or $80 for a stero speaker/charger/etc.) I have the basic simple speaker/charger, and plug my iPod into it probably more often than I plug it into my computer. My kid loves the thing, and will use it to charge in a hurry (since it brings the iPod up to full charge faster than the computer could).

Someone today told me she has a pedometer app, but I don't know what it is called.
Each day is a gift, that's why it is called the present.

I second the NYTimes - it's a little buggy but I read it every day
    Skype (now with video chat!)
    Paper Toss (addicting time waster)
Unblock Me (another addicting time waster)
I have a bunch of photography apps, including:
    -Photogene
    -Photoshop Express
    -Diptic
    -Pano
    -Tilt Shift
Facebook (if you're a FB addict)
    CBS Sunday Morning
    Bump

    Angry Birds
    Pandora
Google App (allows you to search using voice recognition)
Google Voice (if you have a Google Voice account)
    Camera Plus
Cell Fire (Digital Coupons, like for the grocery store)
Kroger (Digital Coupon app if you shop at Kroger Grocery store-- use this app to load coupons directly onto your Kroger Plus "loyalty" Card and you don't have to remember to clip coupons. Discount is taken when you scan your card)
Red Laser (allows you to scan a bar-code and it looks up the price online)
The Find (scans bar-code, but finds local stores near you and tells you the price)
Amazon (allows you to scan a bar-code and it finds the item on Amazon-- we're Prime members, so have found this useful)
    Starbucks.. did someone say Starbucks?!?!

Okay anyone who overlooks this one is really missing out !
It's called RunKeeper. Don't let the "run" part steer you away. This app is awesome. It has settings for biking, hiking, walking, running etc. It also uses your phone's GPS to track your routes, calculates your speed/pace, distance, calorie burn, time. It has a website as well and the iphone app sends all your exercise data to the website. You can track all your data, recall your cycling route and share on Facebook etc., if you like that sort of thing.

Okay here's the best part.... when it first came on scene, I paid $9.99 for the "PRO" version....however during the month of January the PRO version of the app is FREE FREE FREE, not for a limited trial time, not for a limited number of exercise inputs... FREE PEOPLE ! Honest, I don't work for them, I'm just in love with the app

CT do you happen to know if this app uses up data from your data plan? If so about how much are we talking? I'm new at the iPhone thing so I'm trying to see how much data i will actually use.

Whats wrong with wanting a decent weather app? I check NOAA five times a day usually, at least in winter.

the built is one is really crappy.

The Weather Channel app is alot better than the built in one. Unfortunately, Weather Underground does not have an app as far as I know. That would be great!

I second the Runkeeper app. I just started using the android version for my runs and it's really neat.

    FireDrop
    Cut the Rope
    Groupon
    Pandora
Passometer (this is a free pedometer that's really neat)
    iDork
    Geared
