I didn't realize that hummingbirds nested more than once a year?? must be somewhere warm? I'll have to put that on my favourites tab!
I have a hummingbird tattoo... it's a long story but I'm glad I got it.

This hummingbird is expected to nest again in October. I'm told she's fascinating to watch as she cares for her babies.

I love Hummingbirds!
Thanks for the link.
The most effective way to do it, is to do it.

Phoebe is back! No eggs yet.
We have an egg! She's sitting. Video of egg-laying is here.
According to an update, the eggs were lost on Nov 4. Here is a happier story of a guy who rescued a hummingbird: http://www.wimp.com/babyhummingbird/.
That is adorable, and very cheering. Thanks for posting.
Phoebe has started building a new nest.
She's laid two eggs!
OMG!!! I just watched one of the eggs hatch!!
My goodness, I never saw a baby hummingbird before!
the baby hasn't moved in the past 20 minutes or so, and phoebe hasn't been back in just as long
an hour later...
phew!! they're both ok!

I'm so addicted to this right now. It's like the baby's growing right before our eyes (I know it's literal, but the baby's changed a lot even in 24 hours).
I was reading that the males have no role in any of this other than fertilizing. poor Phoebs and other female hummingbirds have to do all the work, no fair!!
baby number 2 hatched!!
They have itty bitty feathers! I wonder if those grew since they hatched, or if they just weren't apparent at first.
