This hummingbird is expected to nest again in October. I'm told she's fascinating to watch as she cares for her babies.

I didn't realize that hummingbirds nested more than once a year?? must be somewhere warm? I'll have to put that on my favourites tab!

I have a hummingbird tattoo... it's a long story but I'm glad I got it.

According to an update, the eggs were lost on Nov 4. Here is a happier story of a guy who rescued a hummingbird: http://www.wimp.com/babyhummingbird/.

I'm so addicted to this right now. It's like the baby's growing right before our eyes (I know it's literal, but the baby's changed a lot even in 24 hours).

I was reading that the males have no role in any of this other than fertilizing. poor Phoebs and other female hummingbirds have to do all the work, no fair!!

They have itty bitty feathers! I wonder if those grew since they hatched, or if they just weren't apparent at first.
