    2-bolt compatible road shoes

    To disable ads, please log-in.

I'm currently riding around in a pair of Specialized MTB shoes. I'm looking to get some proper road shoes that are compatible with SPD cleats. While I've been drooling over the Sidi Geniuses (is that even a word?), they no longer work with the adaptors, apparently. (How dare I consider putting mountain bike pedals on a road bike! )

Any shoes you like that are 2-bolt? I could go with the Dominators, but I don't know how stiff those are compared to the Genius. Any comments?
At least I don't leave slime trails.

I have Dominators. Our LBS owner said that the only real difference between the Genius and the Dominator is tread. Otherwise the uppers and soles are the same. My hubby has Genius(es? heh.) and I have Dominators. They seem to be equally stiff. You could always get the Dominators with carbon soles if you really wanted stiff, though I am quite happy with my plastic-soled Dominators. They are nice for walking a small bit into convenience stores or across grass and such.

I had a pair of carbon-soled Specialized road shoes that I replaced by Dominators. The Dominators are just as stiff in my opinion. And I much prefer wearing mountain-SPD cleats.

Hmmm...now that I look it appears that only the Dominator 6 has a carbon option, and only men's sizing. The Dragon also has a carbon sole, but only men's sizes. Hrm. Our LBS carries a women's model of Dominator that are an iridescent white with blue flowers...I *thought* those were carbon-soled, but maybe I'm mistaken.

Der...the shoes I was thinking of are road shoes. Not sure why my brain was recalling those as mtn shoes.

It bugs me when companies do that.

I have a pair of Doms and a pair of Geniuses, both from last year and both with the non-carbon sole. They are identical except for color and tread. And they are equally stiff.
