    Undy 5000 - June 5 - Tacoma WA

Running barefoot not daring enough for you?

How about running a 5k in your underwear?

    Event t-shirts becoming passe'?

How about a pair of event boxer shorts?

    www.undy5000.org

The "Undy 5000" is a 5k (and a 1 mile fun run/walk) to raise colon cancer awareness and rake in some moola for the Colon Cancer Alliance. It's $30 for adult registration, and you are encouraged to do some fundraising as well. Fundraising is NOT required. There are some groovy prizes for runners who are able to weasel a lot of money out of their friends and family, though.

I'm planning to do this one. Cuz I want the boxer shorts, dude! (I will not, however, be running in my underwear. Some sights are best left unseen.)

Bumping this because ... sad to say but Knott’s been diagnosed with colon cancer. If we’re able, we plan on doing this AND Mercer Island 5k. Both benefit the cause.

Soooo sorry to read this, wishing strength of spirit to both of you!!!!!!! Be strong….your strength can help make her stronger when needed

Alex put a note on our refrigerator that just said Listening, Learning, Loving, and most of all Laughter. She helped my strength in those and so many other ways.

Thanks all. Yes she is swell. We’re taking this adventure step by step. It really teaches you to enjoy the time you have.

If you’re 50 or older get a colonoscopy. Really not that bad. There are good meds, you won’t even know it’s done. If younger than 50 and there’s cancer in your family ask your doctor to do this earlier. We’re crossing our fingers that it’s early enough.

We’re doing our best. She beat cancer before (melanoma). So in her words, going for the collection.

I am not mechanical at all. Putting my new Cycleops indoor bike trainer together (Happy Hannukah to meeeee) is a challenge. But so cool to have one again. This will allow me a bit of a work out.

Knott will be starting chemo soon and I’ll want to stay nearby.

Yeah, my indoor trainer is something I love to hate, but it sure does have a place in my biking. My Cycleops allowed me to stay in condition while recovering from my accident, last summer. Only biking I could do (with the doc's permission) for almost two months while I recovered. When I did get to ride, again, my trainer workouts allowed me to get back to peak riding shape much faster than I would have without it. Nice option to have, too, when temps get below zero.

Days are getting shorter, trails are icy ... it’ll be good to be inside and keep me near the patient.

Now to figure out if I have all the parts.

I’ve been thinking about you two. So sorry you have to go through this. I know it’s not much fun. Hope things are going as well as can be expected. Hopefully this time next year you are back to two-wheeled adventures.

Thanks. Chemo is not much fun. By a few days before the next treatment knott feels almost good enough to take a bike ride but the neuropothy makes her nervous about control. Wondering if anyone else has feeback about getting back in shape after chemo?

Just saw this, sorry to say I'm not around much. Knott & Trek, I hate that you are going through this. Chemo sucks, I know. My main issue post chemo was getting my energy levels back. It's rough, and they may not come back 100%, but they come back, and that's what counts. I wish you both peace and a return to good health.
