    Undy 5000 - June 5 - Tacoma WA

Running barefoot not daring enough for you?

How about running a 5k in your underwear?

    Event t-shirts becoming passe'?

How about a pair of event boxer shorts?

    www.undy5000.org

The "Undy 5000" is a 5k (and a 1 mile fun run/walk) to raise colon cancer awareness and rake in some moola for the Colon Cancer Alliance. It's $30 for adult registration, and you are encouraged to do some fundraising as well. Fundraising is NOT required. There are some groovy prizes for runners who are able to weasel a lot of money out of their friends and family, though.

I'm planning to do this one. Cuz I want the boxer shorts, dude! (I will not, however, be running in my underwear. Some sights are best left unseen.)

Bumping this because ... sad to say but Knott’s been diagnosed with colon cancer. If we’re able, we plan on doing this AND Mercer Island 5k. Both benefit the cause.

Soooo sorry to read this, wishing strength of spirit to both of you!!!!!!! Be strong….your strength can help make her stronger when needed

Alex put a note on our refrigerator that just said Listening, Learning, Loving, and most of all Laughter. She helped my strength in those and so many other ways.

Thanks all. Yes she is swell. We’re taking this adventure step by step. It really teaches you to enjoy the time you have.

If you’re 50 or older get a colonoscopy. Really not that bad. There are good meds, you won’t even know it’s done. If younger than 50 and there’s cancer in your family ask your doctor to do this earlier. We’re crossing our fingers that it’s early enough.

We’re doing our best. She beat cancer before (melanoma). So in her words, going for the collection.

So tomorrow is a PET scan. This is a test to see if there are any other bad guys in there other than the gut and if so where and what size etc. To prep for this she needed a whole day no exercise and of eating only protein and fat. It’s interesting how after a day of pate’, scrambled eggs cooked in olive oil with cheese ... she’s craving sugar.

So I’ve packed some Theo’s chocolate as a reward when the test is done in the morning.

Trek, I'm so sorry to read this. Thanks for letting us know. I hope the treatment goes well.

You are right that a colonoscopy is not a difficult test. I didn't love the prep but it was not as bad as I had feared.

    Best wishes to you both.

Knott’s a milk chocolate fan. I’ll look into that one. We love Theo’s.

I know that doctors get time off. But couldn’t they get up from Thanksgiving dinner or football and read her tests?

We should have results tomorrow. It’s been hard to wait. But my MIL was here for the weekend. She has a lot of support and great family.

I am not mechanical at all. Putting my new Cycleops indoor bike trainer together (Happy Hannukah to meeeee) is a challenge. But so cool to have one again. This will allow me a bit of a work out.

Knott will be starting chemo soon and I’ll want to stay nearby.
