Yeah, my indoor trainer is something I love to hate, but it sure does have a place in my biking. My Cycleops allowed me to stay in condition while recovering from my accident, last summer. Only biking I could do (with the doc's permission) for almost two months while I recovered. When I did get to ride, again, my trainer workouts allowed me to get back to peak riding shape much faster than I would have without it. Nice option to have, too, when temps get below zero.

With January-like temps already here, I'll be getting my indoor trainer out of storage soon instead of waiting until January like I usually do. I just have to motivate myself to ride it...
I hope the chemo goes well!

Thanks. Gosh us too. We’re hoping they choose to use immunotherapy. Since her oncologist is one of the leading researchers in that field could be. We’ll know more today.
Back to biking; it’s very cold and icy outdoors. In the past I watched football on the trainer; moderate fast pace during the game, stand or sprint through ads. It’s surprising how many ads and how much of the programming is advertising.
So this works pretty well as HIT. Problem is we don’t have a TV. We stream everything.
So far I’m listening to podcasts but they don’t have the same functionality of the ad break. I might try a service like Rouvy, a Spotify list or streaming a game.

Sometimes I use music -- an uptempo play list. One song easy, next song hard effort, next song half easy, half moderate effort, etc. Or shift to a hard gear for the chorus and easy for the verses. Stuff like that.
I would think someone somwhere has made podcasts for indoor cycling intervals...

Another fan of music for indoor riding. I just put on the headphones and use some of my playlists my iPod. The music helps get me motivated to ride indoors. It's the only time I listen to music when I ride. This time of year, I'll also have a thermos of coffee to sip on in the bottle cage on the bike. That helps, too.
Normally I watch football while riding indoors. Hear me out on this, it’s perfect. You do a fast regular pace during the game, then sprint during all the ads. It’s near perfect HIT. I’m not a big fan normally but this works.
Problem is we don’t have a TV so Spotify it is unless I stream a game somehow.
Off to set up the bike.

If I had to pick a sport to watch while on the trainer, I think it would be something faster-paced. Basketball would get me in better shape.

Wishing you and Knott more "boring" chemo treatments.... meaning better health prospects and more going into 2019!
Thanks. Day 4 and 5 were supposed to be the worst but she actually did well. Her appetite came roaring back. I made posole made with some local happy pigs. Well, they were happy up to a point in their lives. We pigged out. Chemo fatigue is definitely a thing and we take it slow. But we have taken a few walks and both are thinking of starting the RBG workout as something she can do inside.
I’m definitely thankful that she’s already in good shape and that’s our starting point. If she wasn’t this’d be a whole lot harder.

since we both live in states with legal cannabis i'll say it helped me with both fatigue and nausea. my riding was replaced with walks for awhile but even short rides helped me, especially mentally.
...and yes the help of starting with a strong body/mind is a good reason to stay that way normally!!!!!
