    Ohio?

I'm looking for road events in either southwest Ohio (Cincinnati area) or northeast (Cleveland area) between mid-May and October. Mostly in the area of charity rides and other more low-key/open-to-everyone events. Anything else would end...rather badly.
At least I don't leave slime trails.

For Cincy check the Cincinnati Cycle Club.
Here's a link to their national rides. http://www.cincinnaticycleclub.org/e...ational-rides/

I've done the Spring Opener, ACACAC Tour and the Chili rides. All very well run rides.

Here's a link to the Ohio Bicycle Events Calendar. http://www.ohiocycling.info/obec.html
Good rides in the Dayton/Troy area are the Troy Strawberry Festival-6/7 and the Vandalia Freedom Tour-7/4

Have fun, the Cincy and Dayton areas are great places to ride.

Do they still do that Riverboat Rendezvous? It's been probably 20 years, but it was a good ride.

    Thanks!
Seems most of their rides are early or late...I'll keep an eye out, though.

Eddy's Sweet Corn Challenge is a good one. It occurs at the end of July in Richfield, OH.

I think the rides are scheduled early/late season because the heat and humidity in Southwestern Ohio can be pretty brutal in July/August.

A ride we really enjoyed on Memorial Day, although in Ky, is the Horsey Hundred. http://www.bgcycling.org/ Beautiful ride through horse farm territory. Did it every year until I moved to CO.

um.... that's like saying you only ski in Colorado in the spring because it's too cold the rest of the year.

Organized ride season in Ohio runs from April through October. Land of Legend is right around the fourth of July, XOBA is late July-early August, Ridge Runner and BCBCBCBC are mid-August.

Which, the first "BC" in BCBCBCBC is Brown County [Bicycle Club's Beastly Covered Bridge Cruise]. I've actually never done that ride, but it's very popular.

The BCBCBCBC was Labor Day weekend, I've done it several times. They've given it a new name, ACACAC Bicycle Tour, and changed the date to Aug. 21.
I'm no longer a member of the CCC so I don't know the reasons for the change.

The CCC does have weekly scheduled rides that run the entire year. It's just the national rides that are early and late season.

At one time the CCC did try national rides in July but the participation was very low. I'm sure I would be very hesitant to come to sw Ohio to ride in July because of the humidity while I wouldn't hestitate to participate in a long ride here in CO.

I love the Horsey; it's one of my favorite rides of the year. I've also done the Great Ghost Ride Ramble in early to mid October. The Cincinnati club hosts it, but it starts in Leon Indiana. It's a pretty ride, although I think it could be better marked.

True, it's pretty nasty. It's just irritating because I'm either going to be a)taking finals or b)shut inside because I'm allergic to April and early May. I have no idea where I'll be in October, so I'll see. I know they had the Burning River Ride up here in October, so if I'm still in Cleveland and in any sort of shape to do a century...
