I am not an Alliance member...just passing this on for your information, as I think this may be of general interest to many of you (in the USA).

The Alliance for Biking & Walking released their biennial Benchmarking report of bicycling and walking in the United States. The data are pulled from many national sources and gives some idea of how various states and regions measures up.

Here is a link to the general summary page, including media release. From their site:

    About the 2010 Report:
Bicycling and Walking in the U.S.: 2010 Benchmarking Report is an essential resource and tool for government officials, advocates, and those working to promote bicycling and walking. The Benchmarking Project is an on-going effort to collect and analyze data on bicycling and walking in all 50 states and the 51 largest U.S. cities.

Here is a link to the report itself. Note: it's a 14.19 MB pdf file.

Yay! Mode share is up to 1%!
That's good news on two fronts. It is good news that bicycling is increasing. And it is good news that we still have PLENTY of room for improvement!
