    MN Riders?

    Hey All -

Just wondering if there are any members out here that live in Minnesota (I am in St. Paul). I am fairly new to biking, still riding a hybrid, and would appreciate any regionally specific information anyone has to share.

What are you looking for? You might check out http://www.minnesotacyclist.com/
    check out the events calendar.

There's a fair number of bike paths around if that's what you're interested in, some state trails can be found here:

Being in St. Paul you're close to the Gateway which is a nice trail although I feel the west end of it can be a bit dicey due to the neighborhood.

Check out the St. Paul Classic bike ride in September. They close most of the streets on the routes for this one which is nice.

    St. Paul rides

I'm in St. Paul too. Have you been down the trail that starts down at the SW end of Harriet Island? It's paved, usually pretty debris-free (I'm a road biker, often on my hybrid), and heads down into Lilydale then into Mendota, and connects with the Big Rivers Regional Trail:

It's not trafficked much, surprisingly. Often a few walkers/runners on it. Fairly flat. Quite scenic, as it goes along the Mississippi River.

    Dogmom & Red Canny -

Thanks for the great resources and trail ideas. Exactly what I was looking for. I used to live up on the north end of St. Paul and was missing the Gateway Trail. Lately I have been riding through neighborhoods, trying to avoid busy streets (a fear of being doored). Not very exciting. Now I have a list of resources to find other metro area trails.

    Thanks again,
    Mary
