it's a shame our schools and libraries are so strapped for cash

I know a lot of folks on the board do rides to raise money for various causes, but here's a cause near and dear to my own heart. There's website donorschoose.org where teachers submit wish lists of things they need for their classroom and people donate money so they can get what they need. A couple of teachers at my school have tried it out and gotten funded, which is very cool given how tight our district budget is.
So if you're a teacher and need something, check it out; it might work for you. And if you've got some extra cash lying around, take a look at some of the requests, one might strike a chord with you.

does anyone wanna donate to my childrens' day gift buying fund??? I have too many students... even candy means at least $100 for the 200 odd pupils, not to mention my form class has 40 kids... its madness.. one of my colleagues spent $600 on gifts last year!!
kidding by the way, not seeking real donations
just kinda fed up with all the out-of-pocket funding for everything from colour pencils to coloured paper to decorate the class board. I'm so tempted to just use what the school gives us (which is close to nothing) but the kids will suffer.
My project just got fully funded today. Pretty cool! And it was not a lot of work to submit the proposal.
