First commute to daughter's school--got weird looks

As a new rider, I've felt inspired by the commuters on this forum and so today--instead of driving the 5 miles to my daughter's elementary school for lunch--I decided to ride my comfort hybrid instead. It took me between 15-20 minutes and I loved each minute of it...especially when I parked my bike on the bike rack next to all these little BMX bikes and tiny helmets!! There were lots of other parents there, eating lunch with their children and I got a few weird looks when I showed up sweaty (I live in Florida). I felt so good, though that it didn't matter...and I can't wait to do it again. Next mission--the grocery store.

Great job!!! Hopefully your daughter's friends will ask their parents why they don't ride their bikes (and hopefully their answers are: "because we're not as cool as her mom").

What a great example you are to those kids- and their parents!

Excellent, you might inspire another parent. But it might take awhile.
