    Hi,

So glad that you replied to my post! I am also from the Land of Sugar and getting ready to train for the MS-150. It will be the first time for me too so the 9 months head start on training will definitely help.

Just curious to know what kind of bike do you have? Was it $$? The reason why is b/c I am looking for a road bike but haven't the slightest clue on what to get. I have been researching on the internet but think it will be easier to visit a bike shop and talk to someone instead.

IF you get a chance, drop me a line anytime and let me know how your training progress is going. Also, any advice on bikes and gear will be greatly appreciated!

I got a new bike when I started riding...specialized sequoia elite. It cost $1200. I LOVE IT!! You should check out Bike Barn off of Kirby they are always really friendly and have good deals.

I was actually looking for a group myself since I don't go super speed like a lot of the groups around are area. I try and ride about 4-5 times a week. I am doing my first scheduled ride this weekend called Katy Flatlands. I am only doing 30 miles but hey it's a start.

let me know how bike hunting goes!

I think one of the groups that bike through Sugar Land is SouthwestSchwinn. I plan to stop by their shop Saturday and inquire. I *know* that they are way advanced and ride hundreds of miles at a time, but they also have training guides. I'll keep you posted.

Yea i've been in contact with them through email. THe guy said that they have level A and B. A being 20+ mph and B being 17-19 mph. I go about 15-16 right now and I dont want to ride with a group just to get dropped. They have a C group "sometimes" which would be perfect but I haven't seem to get a group together.

hiya... hope you don't mind me jumping in here...

I wanted to just add one thing... treat buying a bike like you would buying a car... and test ride every brand of bike you can get your hands on that's in your price range... some will just feel more comfortable than others!!! I really, really wanted a Trek Project One but they just did not fit me for some reason...

And definitely try out WSD bikes as well as mens... I ride a mens bike but had them put WSD shifters on for me (they add a plastic piece that shortens the reach to the shifters giving you access to the shifter and brakes!) as well as upgrading to the saddle I wanted... so if you do buy a guys bike ask them to WSD it for you! Good luck with the shopping and training...

    tn_rx,
I think I might try a B group and if I get left behind then I get left behind. I'm just tired of riding by myself . I can't seem to get a C group together through their forums.
