Is my behavior based on pure determination or is it a obsession?
Many thanks ahead of time for your genuine answers.
I ride a Cannondale Synapse Feminine Carbon 3, with Shimano Ultegra SL Compact, 34/50 crank and a Shimano Ultegra 12-27 rear cog. While my partner, Yin drives a 2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine and a continuously variable transmission.
This might be a bit silly, as I enjoy trying to keep up with Yin while she drives her car. This is the best option, especially since I love cycling and she loves driving. Therefore, every time we have an outing, she would drive and I would ride.
People think that it is silly of me to desperately try to race or keep up with Yin’s car, while I am on a road bicycle, but I guess that we all have a child side to things. Especially when the field of estate law can be quite stressful, so by setting a mental goal that keeping up with Yin is a compulsion, I push myself riding as hard as possible to unwind from work.
As I ride on a year-round basis, it gets harsh from November to March, as the weather gets cold and wet, usually in the high 30s to low 40s. Although Yin always offers me to ride in her car, but I usually decline. Our firm is a female professional corporation located in a rural area with a 6 miles stretch of semiprivate road, as the sunset around 4:15 in the winter; I had to ride in pitch-dark condition with just an alkaline battery headlight. It is actually quite bright with the latest LED lamp. It gets worse during a heavy rain, as Yin and my colleagues overtake me, their tyres kick up a great deal of muddy water and I would get soaked from tip to toe. I know it sounds awful, but I absolutely enjoyed it.

Naw, the best option would be if Yin gets a bike :P Then you can race each other. You can get a 40 pound bicycle to her road bike if that's what's needed for the challenge.
It's determination
This should be a scene in a movie. I can just picture it....
