My summation:
Style Man and the NY Times are a little behind the times.

And Bike Snob writes for Bicycling. What is this world coming to?
"How about if we all just try to follow these very simple rules of the road? Drive like the person ahead on the bike is your son/daughter. Ride like the cars are ambulances carrying your loved ones to the emergency room. This should cover everything, unless you are a complete sociopath."
David Desautels, in a letter to velonews.com
Random babblings and some stuff to look at.
This article is all about men. Last I checked, there were women in NYC, too.
But I never much liked Style Man, anyway.
One of those models is sure cute. But i had to laugh at his white jackets and khaki pants. All he has to do is rub by one parked car or his own chain and the pretty clothing won't be pretty any more.

All men....except for the one "girl". Sheesh. I so don't need to read his stuff ever again....

If I had too much time, money, and a pretty flat place to not ride very far (like maybe a beach?), I might buy something fashionable but impractical as ...but, I don't. :P I'm not convinced that people taking up biking and making possibly not the best decision about type of bike is the worst thing in the world, but the attitude of that article is dangerous (specifically the anti-helmet attitude, because it isn't fashionable is SCARY to me - which sounded to me like, the Dutch don't, we shouldn't either, especially because they aren't trendy enough! I have a feeling it might be a bit safer there considering it's prevalence and less dense population, than NY). It's wonderful to encourage people to ride on whatever they enjoy, assuming it's in a safe and healthy way, heck even in a suit, but helmets on heads being shunned in press?
