Talking New bike on it's way

    To disable ads, please log-in.

I started to get back into mountain biking in the last year and decided I needed a real mountain bike. I've been borrowing bikes from friends and test riding. I finally found the frameset I really wanted and I'm going for it.

It will be shipped to my friend who will finish building it up for me with a top of the line build kit. I'm going to have a kick azz bike.

    Here it is.

A new bike day, is a happy day . I normally say "hope you have many happy and safe miles together". But, we are talking about mtb here... so minor self inflicted pain is optional lol.

It's the S-works Safire by Specialized. Carbon WSD with an amazing shock system.

Here are the wheels that where handbuilt for her.

Wahine - are those tubeless? I haven't tried that yet, but am thinking about it...

    Here are the specs.

    frame Specialized SWorks Safire
    fork Specialized FutureShock
    headset Specialized internal
    front der Shimano XTR
    rear der SRAM X-0
    shifters SRAM X-0
    brakes Avid Juicy Ultimate
    crankset Truvative Noir XC carbon
    cassette SRAM PG990 11-32
    chain SRAM PC991
    hubs DTSwiss 340
    rims Mavic XC717 Disc
spokes DT Revo black, alloy nipples
tires Kenda Blue Groove 2.1, 2.35
handlebar Ritchey WCS Carbon Lo rise
    stem Thomson X-2
    seatpost Thomson Elite
    saddle WTB Diva
    grips ODI Ruffian Lock-on
    bottle cage Bontrager Race XLite
    pedals Shimano XT

I'm embarassed to say I'm not sure about the tires but I believe they have tubes. It doesn't say tubeless anywhere and when my friend and I went over all the details, I was a little overwhelmed. I don't remember any mention of tubeless though.

Some of the specs have already changed a bit depending on parts availability. But that's it in a nutshell.

The frame hasn't arrived at my friend's shop yet so the rest of the build is on hold for the moment. I am soooooooooo excited.

I am soooooooooo jealous. That will be one smokin' hot bike. I'm lusting after one of its less expensive cousins at the moment, but, alas, I'm many dollars short of that dream.
