Years ago my mountain biking buddy went mountain biking at a famous place here in Mass. called The Fells, wiped out, and lacerated her liver. No joke! That was what the doctors called her injury, caused by a handlebar end hard to the gut. The poor thing. After serveral days in the ICU, she made a full recovery, and has resumed mountain biking.

I landed on my handlebar once during a crash and it slammed into my ribs. I woke up the next day and had a round blue and purple "ODI" logo on my chest. Classy indeed. Luckily nothing was lacerated.
