Yup its that time of the year again. Meet the Team rides and Intro to Women's Cycling and Racing team rides will be starting up soon

If you've ever thought about racing, want to hone your group ride skills or just want to meet women who race this is the place to be for Seattle area cyclists.

Intro to Women's Cycling and Racing Teams

Join us for the third annual Intro to Women's Cycling and Racing Teams! In late September and early October, a combination of women from many of the local racing teams will host Sunday rides similar to the Saturday Meet the Teams rides, with the exception that this ride is for women only, and each ride is hosted by women representatives from multiple teams. If you are new to the racing community, looking to strengthen your riding skills, thinking about racing in 2009, or looking to speak with other women about local racing teams or riding opportunities, this ride's for you!

    Here are further details.

Dates: September 21, September 28, October 5, and October 12

Time: 9:00 AM at Pert's in Leschi. Prepare to be on the road by 9:10 AM. Please don't be late!

Route: around the south end of Lake Washington

Skills: pacelines, riding a straight line, and racing tactics/techniques. Depending on turnout, we'll break into groups no greater than 10 to keep it manageable and go over the basics, making sure to keep things fun and not stressful.

Bakery Stop: Pert's either before or after for scones & coffee.

Please join us, share this web page with any who might be interested and feel free to contact Gina Kavesh with any questions: gina [at] rentonww [dot] com.

    Meet the Teams Rides 2008

If you're thinking of joining a (new) team for the 2009 racing season, here's your chance to meet members of many of the teams in the Seattle area. Starting Saturday, September 6, clubs will lead weekly rides around the south end of Lake Washington for riders of all skill levels who are interested in racing. The complete ride schedule and information about each team are listed below.

Now is the time to find a team that matches your interests and goals. The winter months (November-February) are when teams ride together, learn from and motivate each other, and make plans for next season. By March, you'll be ready to start racing! Many teams close their rosters sometime in the fall because of deadlines for clothing orders, so choosing a team is not a decision to postpone.

Rides leave on Saturdays from Pert's Deli (120 Lakeside Ave, Seattle, WA 98122), in the Leschi neighborhood. There is ample parking nearby. Please be at Pert's by 9:20 for a 9:30 AM departure.

These are social rides, at a conversational pace, around the south end of Lake Washington. Allow about 2 hours. The ride may stop for 5-10 minutes along the way, but otherwise, be prepared for a continuous ride. These rides happen rain, wind, or sunshine! Bring a functioning road bike (full fenders are appreciated on damp days), helmet, water, some food, weather-appropriate clothing, a little money, and an extra tube in case you flat. All the information is below and you can also get a printable flyer.

    September 13 - Starbucks Cycling
September 20 - First Rate Mortgage
September 27 - Team Group Health
October 4 - Wines of Washington
    October 11 - Bicycle Centres/Collision 1
    October 18 - Cucina Fresca
    October 25 - Native Planet

I didn't include these guys on the original list as well, they are guys... and until this year the team was exclusively male. Looks like they intend to open their roster to women so here it is - one more meet the team ride

Recycled Cycles Racing (RCR) is seeking to better diversify our team membership for the 2009 season and beyond. RCR is seeking 8-10 cat 4 women racers as well as Cat 3/4/5 men to bolster our current roster. If you are interested in a smaller team atmosphere and would like to take advantage of the great sponsorship benefits offered in 2009, then come on out Saturday September 6th, 2008 to Pert’s Deli in Leschi. This will be a social paced ride around the south end of Lake Washington with a no drop rule in effect. Interested riders are encouraged to arrive 10 to 15 minutes prior to our de partur e time of 9:30 am.

Thanks for your interest in Recycled Cycles Racing!!
