    taking on pretentious advertising

it's old, but I hadn't seen it before. Absolutely hilarious from Fat Cyclist:

I know several Assos fetishists of the Dr. Michael Lammler-type, but I don't think they would appreciate the humor

actually, I would love to see a follow-up to that post taking on Assos' new post-ride "total comfort leisure solution": http://db.assos.com/

I rather like their idea, which is to have simple, elegant, functional clothing, only one of each style, that all match... but the advertising is... well, take a look at the womans "leisure pants"

Fatty has brass... That's what makes his blog such a delight. My all-time favorite is when he wrote the Gary Fisher brand manager last fall and asked for a free Superfly:

    http://www.fatcyclist.com/2007/11/08...t-selling-out/

Thing is, Travis-the-Gary-Fisher-man took him up on the deal... and Travs is my kind of bike advocate!

Fatty now has his Superfly, but I think he gave in and actually bought it...

that design is wrong on so many levels.

Assos is supposed to be a swiss brand. I was just telling myself how god that swiss jersey looked on Cancellara, and would like to be happy this is swiss.

This, however, looks like an italian "street"worker/wannabe actrice.
She can't even carry herself right in heels, or the stylist is telling her to look like a dork on purpose. The outfit is about as swiss as a perspex cuckoo clock.
It's a little secret you didn't know about us women. We're all closet Visigoths.

Oh my but that was funny! I just loved the section on chamois creme.

"Alas, I did not realize that one of the main ingredients in Assos Chamois Cream seems to be menthol, of approximately the same concentration as Ben Gay. My nether regions were simultaneously aflame and freezing, which is nowhere near as nice a feeling as you might expect."

Thanks for introducing me to the Fat Cyclist.

    Can you imagine wearing that?

It looks to me like she's ducking down to keep her head in the picture.
Or else the photo caught her in the first part of falling over.

And she's very deformed -- or the chamois very misplaced!

Karen in Boise, who won't even go anywhere near that insane "leisure suit" above!

With heels like that, you have to lean backwards all the time or else you'll fall on your face.

I loved the clip from the Assos "DB" promo, where the elegant Euro woman is explaining the reason the DB line of leisure clothing was designed -because cyclists "didn't know what to wear after the bike ride".
Do we really not know what to wear after a bike ride? Any cyclist who can't solve that 'complicated problem' must be a total airhead.
