    south america by bike

i am contemplating on a tour across south america following a route from colombia down to argentina. has anyone in here done this? i'm most concern on personal safety because i'll be travelling alone. hope someone could share some personal experience/s as I can't find a site that features women riding across south america alone on a bike. thanks!

Sounds like it would be a lot of fun to do!
Someone here has already done it- alone- and wrote a book about it.

We hosted a couple overnight through the Warm Showers network. They have been traveling around the world by bike for 10 years, including the length of South America. I will try to find their blog site. Also I have some friends here in Tucson who did some touring in S. America. I'll try to find out some info from them.
