But root beer is hideous and beer, if you believe Benjamin Franklin (as one must in this instance), is proof that God loves us.

    P.S. Welcome new folks!

Well, I kinda figure that if it's available nationwide in the US, it doesn't really deserve to be called beer. The microbrews referred to by veloputt on the other hand...

    hello

Hi, ladies! I've been lurking quite a while and wanted to introduce myself before the new year. I've learned a lot from all your advice and look forward to participating more.

    Real name: Emily.

Where do you live? Phoenix, Ariz.

Explanation of your handle: My favorite doll when I was little was Thumbellina. My handle is a combination of her name and mine.

    Explanation of your avatar: coming.

    Age (general or specific): 25.

    Occupation: journalist.

Favorite bike: I don't have one yet, but I'm very happy with my only bike so far.

What's in your stable? Trek 2100.

Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? 32.8 mph, down a long, gradual hill near Lake Pleasant this fall. Near the bottom of the hill, I heard a hissing sound -- it was a rattlesnake about a foot away from my bike! Believe me, I picked up the pace.

Another picture of yourself or your ride? also coming...

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: That feels so good!

Most memorable moment on my bike: Climbing to the top of South Mountain. You gain about 1,100 feet in 5.5 miles. I've never wanted so badly to get off my bike, but I really felt accomplished after I finished!

Most fun ever had on a bike? The first time I rode at night. I loved the connection with my bike; it was the first time I felt like we were working completely together.

Blasphemous words! I had a Coor's Light, yuck, after my only race this year. Geez, it never tasted soooo good. I downed it like a soda pop and I don't drink alcohol very often or very much at a time.

That's because it is basically soda pop But I'll bet it was very refreshing.

I've seen time and time again that even humdrum food tastes wonderful after a long ride. Heck, maybe I'd even enjoy a Coors Light after a ride. Especially if it was the only beer available ...

Goodness, that's quite a distance for a beer! A woman after my own heart.

Let me guess, it probably wasn't a Coor's Light ...

( pkq, you may feel free to slap me upside the head for that if and when we ever meet )
