Well, this confirmed roadie had some fun in the woods today.
MORE (Mid-Atlantic Off Road Enthusiasts) did a RLAG (Ride Like a Girl) ride at a MD state park called Rosaryville . DivingBiker came along with me. There were three groups - casual guys, casual gals, and moderate gals. I rode with the moderate gals.
    Holy smokes. That was FUN!
Other than a TE-DC group ride on the C&O Canal - a flat dirt road, basically - I haven't been on my mountainbike in the woods since July, '05. Yes, I remember the date. And it was with my DH and his friend, both really fast, technical riders and the experiences were never that great.
Rosaryville was just technical enough to keep me interested, but not so hard as to be discouraging. Lots of swoopy singletrack and short rollers. A few stream crossings and only a few logs to jump.
Yeee-ha! I'd go back there again. Way cool!

I'm so glad you had a great time! Its fun to change-up every now and then and being with the right group of people makes all the difference too. Thanks for the links, it's cool to look at bike forums from other States.

That's it. Since I can't make it down to Va for the Bike Lane's women's mtb classes, I've gotta find someplace or someone up here in Md who can teach me the basics. It really sounds like fun!
"How about if we all just try to follow these very simple rules of the road? Drive like the person ahead on the bike is your son/daughter. Ride like the cars are ambulances carrying your loved ones to the emergency room. This should cover everything, unless you are a complete sociopath."
David Desautels, in a letter to velonews.com

Random babblings and some stuff to look at.
