Road Rides in the Tempe, Arizona, Area

I am looking for information on places to ride my road bike in the Tempe area. I'd like to get in about a 40 to 50 mile ride, so I can keep up my century training while I am there.
Any suggestions?
Also, are there any dog-friendly places where I can take my dogs for a swim?

Ah, well. Been there, done that. Did one loop of the Ironman course plus a few extra miles. Never found a place for the dogs to swim, but they had a good time anyway!
