Spokes magazine: "Serving cyclists in the mid-Atlantic states"

Spokes is a great magazine (newspaper?) that is free at local bike shops. I try to pick up a copy each month to see what's going on with mid-Atlantic bike advocacy and events, as well as their interesting regular features on various types of cycling.

Nicole, you need to get a copy of the April issue. There's a cover story on Adrian Fenty, "DC's new triathlete mayor". Mayor Fenty's apparently training for eight triathlons this year There's also another feature on triathlon in our area.
"How about if we all just try to follow these very simple rules of the road? Drive like the person ahead on the bike is your son/daughter. Ride like the cars are ambulances carrying your loved ones to the emergency room. This should cover everything, unless you are a complete sociopath."

I know that Fenty is a runner and does several marathons each year but I hadn't heard that he does triathlon. I'll have to look for a copy of this magazine. Any idea which locals stores carry it?

I'm not sure which LBS you frequent, but I know I've seen it at All-American Bicycles in Damascus. I can't remember whether I've gotten it at Race Pace or not. All of the shops I go to in Frederick usually have it.

I know the Bicycle Place in Silver Spring carries it - we picked up the March edition recently. My gym usually has it, too, but I didn't look for it this morning. That's a place to look, too, if you have a fitness club membership.
A friend of mind recommended the Fenty family's store in D.C. (don't recall the name) for those occasional moments when I lose my sanity and think I might take up running, if I only had a good pair of running shoes!
Fenty was/is also, I understand, a driving force behind the free bike valet parking at this year's cherry blossom festival. Yay for that!

Adrian Fenty's parents shoe store is Fleet Feet in Adams Morgan. That's where I got my running shoes last year. They're really great at finding the perfect shoes for less than perfect feet. They also carry lots of triathlon gear.
