How many of you have named your bike?

    And what are the names?

I finally got my new bike put together- well, actually I have 2- one for singletrack and a Schwinn that'll be more for commuting...that one is just waiting for an Aheadset...

but I suddenly realized I hadn't even thought of the sex of my bike - let alone a name!

    So- what to do?

    Or am I nuts??

    Kimba
    naming her cars since 1976...

You'll know it when you know it.

When I got my Romulus I was toying with different names but none seemed right.

Then one day I was passed on the bike path, and as the friendly-but-fast guy whizzed by I called out "just call me pokey" (and was rewarded with a nice smile). As the dust settled I realized that's what I was going to call my bike. So Pokey it is. My speed machine

my mountain bike is named Helga - b/c she's kind of gruff and tuff and not to be messed with.
my road racing bike is named Briana, which is Celtic for Strong ... because she has made me a strong and confident cyclist.
but the road frame i rode last year and my commuter never have gotten names, nothing ever seemed quite right.

check out the baby names websites for suggestions.

    When I was riding today-
a name came to me. I think he is a boy bike...
    and his name is Ted.

Don't ask me...it just came to me.

and now all I can think of is that Boys Don't Cry tune...I Wanna Be A Cowboy...
"my name is Ted... and one day, I'll be dead yo yo yo....."

Which is maybe appropriate. Sometimes I despair that I am just a "wannabe"...
and sometimes I figure it'll be a miracle if I don't die while flying down a steep embankment!!!

The mountain bike has a name: "Dreamcycle" because she's orange and white like the frozen (Dreamsicle Popsicle) treat.

I don't have a name for the road bike (glossy black C-dale with a "Tough as Hell" devil-woman bmx sticker). Open to suggestions?

You are not nuts, at least in my book, but that may not be saying much.

I've always named my cars too, but I find newer products more difficult because there is less personality....

Haven't named my bike because nothing has struck me yet... though I think it deserves one...

    Esmerelda is a good name!
One of my old cars was aptly named "Rust Rover"

going to Cannondale's website will give you a good picture -
    (year 2003) Jekyll 800

"Blood red" with brown & yellow markings (I may have the European version since that's the picture that has the right marking colors)

click on the picture for a nice big view.

    "Blood Red" Jekyll?

"Mr. Hyde" came to mind right away (groan!).

I've been trying to avoid thinking along those lines, but now that you've 'said' it outloud, I don't think I'll be able to get it out of my head!

I wanted to name our Santana tandem Carlos. But Thom vetoed the idea.

My Riv is named Fluffy - 'cause he was such a light, nimble ride after only having ridden a tandem or a mountain bike. And it's bright orange - just like a dog we had when I was little named Fluffy.
