I see that the pay-for-medicine process is similar to the universal health care we get here in Canada!

I can't think of how many times this has happened to me over the years. I'm sorry you have to pay for your visits (hopefully you have good insurance), but, with anything medical I've found you have to be your own advocate. If you want an answer - and I do believe we should have a diagnosis before self-treating - just book the appointment to review the results, regardless of what the receptionist says. And if those results are normal, bring in your checklist and find out if any of the other items can be tested - maybe a blood test is in order.

I do understand how frustrating this is. I've been trying to get a diagnosis on a condition that has seriously limited my activity since July. My next specialist appointment is on December 12. 1 of 3 tests indicated it could be my gallbladder, but 2 of them returned normal results, so....off to the specialist to check who knows what.

I would not have had any of the tests if I had not just kept booking appointments with my doctor to discuss how I'm feeling now and what the last thing we tried did.

Don't give up! If your doctor doesn't give you the treatment you want, by all means start shopping around, but do talk to "Dr. P" about these results to find out the doc's thoughts on what could be next....

Did you doctor do a complete metabolic panel? I was having similar problems (except they happened mostly at a resting rate) and I had a battery of tests. I felt like a research experiment I had an ECG, Heart Monitor, two metabolic panels, EKG. I saw my internal medicine doctor, a neurologist and my eye doctor. They have determined it is most likely a form of migraines. Not the typical type, but something like it.

Anyway, I am just trying to tell you the path I had to go down to get some answers. Like I said it was similar, not the same. An echo doesn't seem like a stopping point though.

Yes, luckily I have good insurance. It hasn't cost me too much yet. But I've had an ECG, EKG, monitor and a metabolic panel. I'm assuming everything came back normal, the only thing that prissy miss 'S' commented on was the ECG when she said it was normal. I think you're right, I'll make an appointment for a follow up anyway. I'm just so annoyed.
