St. Louis end of Katy Trail extended

The trail now goes 12 miles past St. Charles to Machens! We rode a few miles yesterday on the opening day (We interrupted the end of the ribbon cutting ceremony--ON YOUR LEFT, coming through! Bicycle path!) Very nice. Some loose gravel, little shade, but follows levee along the river so more scenic than I expected. Of course, now we have to find out how to hop off and find our way across to the Alton Great River Road ;-)

We also swung by the new coffee/bike shop/cafe in St Charles--2nd Street Bike Shop & Cafe to say hi. Looks like a good launching point for this end of the trail. Kudos!

    Trailnet St. Louis

Looks like Trailnet's calendar is full for the season and starting early (a full month ahead of the usual-season-starting Tour de Stooges)! DH is headed out in the winds for the Flat as a Pancake today. See you out there :-)

A friend saw the new trailhead over the weekend and said it was very nice. Can't wait to ride it. How was the Tour de Stooges? I can't imagine riding it in that wind. How brutal!

His speed was down to 7 mph at the end and he can usually average 18! Said they had a great turn out though--parking lot was full.

Hey, now I'm going to have to come back to ride the FULL Katy! Hmmm....and it looks like I might be supervising our St. Louis office again later this year. Hmmm...

    Congrats!
