Just got back from a week long road trip visiting friends. Good to see them all, but a LOT of driving (NY,MD,SC,NC,VA) and one too many Futons of Death to sleep on.

Word just in is that MimiTabby is dreadfully ill with a flu and can't even sit at her computer to read TE. So hopefully she will rest and mend over the next couple of days. Get better Mimi!!!

French Dip day in the cafeteria just ruins my diet for the day. Plus they had onion rings. Damn - I used 10 flex points today.

this flu is kicking people's butts this year.

do you guy get flu shots every year?

i don't. i personally think they don't work and that if you do get 'em you're actually more prone to get sick. cuz the people who get sick seem to be the ones who got the flu shot. or at least said they did when they took some time off work. maybe they just went to go do something fun

HI you guys. No fever this morning, actually ate a huge breakfast of 2 ounces of jello with a little banana in it. What has been a life saver for me was all the electrolyte sports drinks my husband has around the house. that's the best thing I "ate" all of yesterday.

I just read that a 7 year old girl DIED from this flu in a local school here!
My mother and stepfather had their flu shots, my husband and I did not.
We all got the flu, one after the other.

I am hoping my sons don't get it. Taking it very slow and about to get horizontal again. This is one time I am happy that all my friends are "virtual" because we can't spread these germs (er, viruses) this way.

Hope you're feeling better asap Mimi!

I get a flu shot every year but I work in a school and if the flu hits there, it's hard not to get it. You have to remember that the flu shot only protects you against 1 or 2 of the most severe strains of influenza, which are respiratory infections, much like a severe cold with fever. These awful stomach bugs that are going around aren't covered by a flu shot.

Hey, Mimi! Get better and better!

And the electrolyte stuff is darn good to have around.

SKnot's been eating Clif Bloks. He's gonna attempt school again. He's missed a full week now.

My older son is clearly not as miserable as I was, he groaned when i told him no solids today. Yesterday i didn't care, i was too sick to be hungry.

SKnot and I had the "long and slow" version, which the pediatrician said you just have to wait out. My boss (and you?) had the "short and evil" version. The doc said that one you can get meds for.

When i picked him up from school (after an hour) on Tuesday, the attendance office said 70 kids were home with the flu and they'd sent another 10 home from school yesterday. That's about 10% of the school.

Yeah when I had my stomach flu in January it lasted a whole week. I lost several pounds, had no appetite at all. But I did find it great to sip an electrolyte sports water all day- made a big difference for me and felt better than drinking plain water or tea. I like the Glaceau brand "fruit water" with a tiny bit of peach flavor and sugar, plus electrolytes and a few vitamins....very refreshing and stayed down in my stomach very well. It's the same stuff I take with me always when biking.
