Went to the farmers market today - as usual, I bought too much. Oranges, apricots, teeny little japanese eggplant, summer squash. A wonderful gazpacho, a nice salmon filet and some tilapia filets. Guess I'm cooking dinner almost everyday this week. Oh I forgot - the tricolored bag of little potatos - yukon golds, reds, and purple!

Now to decide....salmon or tilapia tonight?

I my experience tilapia is so mild that you don't notice the flavor changes as quickly, the salmon flavor changes are much more noticable when it's been sitting a while (it tastes more oily).

Enjoy, it sounds like a fantastic meal!

After eating pizza 3 days in a row - salmon or tilapia sounds sooooooo good! I so badly want to eat something healthy.

We made it back from Knoxville. I saw tons of people on mountain bikes around there (we were in a suburb - Farragut). And.....drumroll...... they were ALL wearing helmets. Contrast - unpacking the car - 4 people ride by my house on bikes and not a single one of them had on a helmet. Aargh!

I'm still waiting on my SS gift to arrive. I was hoping it wouldn't arrive this weekend, because whatever snacky thing was in there would melt. So - good thing. Maybe tomorrow.

I'm stuck in bed again. Dang cold! Can hardly breathe, can't stop coughing, nose is a mess.

I had it all last week. Just as I was really riding a lot, and managing to ride faster as well. All I wanted to do all week was ride my bike but all I did was go to work and come home and crash on the couch.

Still congested and lots of coughing but I went out for a "10 mile" ride today - started pretty slow, but somehow managed to do 26 miles since it was such a beautiful day. Then went to the pool and lay in the sun for a while, swam a few laps, and just ate takeout shrimp w/penne and vodka sauce. I could almost taste it. Life is good.

PRIDE PARADE!!!!

Seattle's Pride Parade will be on TV in 7 minutes. (KSTW Channel 11, from 6 pm to 8 pm) I'm so glad, cuz I was home in bed (alone) with the stupid cold that has been dogging my steps for a week now. Hooray! I'll get to see the parade after all!

Seattle's Pride Parade will be on TV in 7 minutes. (KSTW Channel 11, from 6 pm to 8 pm) I'm so glad, cuz I was home in bed (alone) with the stupid cold that has been dogging my steps for a week now. Hooray! I'll get to see the parade after all!

Have a great time. I am astonished that they broadcast the whole parade! Patience, patience as your body heals...the bike will wait for you and be there for an adventure when you're all healed up. L.

I've been back a while, I met Spazzdog and her neighbor, Sarah in the city. Sarah's straight (but not narrow) and her quip "omg, there goes another one, this is like a banquet I can't eat at" had us howling with laughter.

The first groups in the parade were cycilsts or at least 2 wheeled; there were the Dikes on Bykes (misspelled to avoid the **'s) followed by SF's Bike Messengers, then the Mikes on Bikes, then AIDS Lifecycle Riders, Different Spokes, another group.... (I think Gay Games?)....lots of bikes.

We watched the parade for a while till hunger called and we headed for the Civic Center to find a bite to eat.

I ...gulp...signed up for the AIDS Ride again....gulp.

OK, I'll bite, what are Mikes on Bikes? I love that SF has enough Bike Messengers to mount a contingent in the parade. Sounds fun.

I just finished watching the second Kona IM DVD Nanci loaned me (the 25th anniv--this time no skipping of the picture, who knows what was happening before). Incredible. As always, tears running down my face watching the "regular" people finish. "Regular" as if. And, as usual, by the end, I was on the floor doing push ups and crunches, because who can watch an IM on the couch? Nanci, I'll be ordering 2005's DVD with the next paycheck, and then I can return the favor. Dang, but I love triathlon.

Heck, in 2003, one guy lay on the side of the road, unconscious for awhile. Was revived. Got up. Started walking. Ran again to finish. So, appearantly, you can nap in the middle of the run!
And if you ever plan to cartwheel the run portion, I'll sell tickets!!! You could do a combo of skip, hop, and cartwheel. I don't think it matters. You just can't use a jet pack or have anyone throw you. Other than that...

In '03, the astonishing story they highlighted was that of a Belgian, Mark Herreman, who finished 6th at Kona in '01. Later that year, he was paralysed from the waist down in a cycling accident. In '02, he attempted Kona again, powered only by his own arms. He didn't make it past the swim though; it turned out he had a kidney infection and was really sick. In '03, he was back. He finished the course with a handcycle and racing wheelchair. 140.6 miles. Incredible. And my excuse was....what? I'm sorry, I'm sure I had a reason I can't get out there and swim/bike/run...dang, where'd that thing get to? It is so cool to be the tiniest part of such a phenomenon.
