My daughter was delivered by a midwife- Steve.
I had a miraculous idea last night. You know I am into wine tasting and wine logging (at my bargain basement level I take it very seriously!) I have two books of tasting notes, with one bottle on each page. At first, I tried really hard to remove the labels and paste them on the pages- but most labels are really hard to remove, especially intact. BF got tired of 20-30 bottles lined up in the laundry room, waiting for their labels to fall off by old age, or something. Finally, I cleared out all the bottles, gave up, and settled for empty spaces where the labels were supposed to go. (I did think about drawing them, but decided that wouldn't work too well). So last night, I had the idea of photographing them!!! And it works!! I print them out on plain paper, three to a sheet, and they are about life-size. I am so happy! I wonder if the wine shop will let me go there and photograph all the bottles I missed...

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- State wildlife commissioners voted unanimously Wednesday to remove bald eagles from Florida's list of animals in danger of extinction and to downgrade manatees from endangered to threatened.
The commissioners also voted to upgrade the statuses of the Panama City crayfish and gopher tortoise to threatened species.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission voted 7-0 to strip bald eagles of their threatened classification and to downgrade manatees because both populations have shown signs of rebounding.
Florida's three-tiered system includes classifications of endangered, threatened and special concern, the lowest level.
Wednesday's decisions won't go into effect until management plans are approved for each species, which could take more than a year, officials said. Eagles and manatees remain protected under several federal laws, including the 1973 Endangered Species Act.
The Gopher tortoise, which nests in dunes, has survived for 60 million years but biologists estimate their numbers have dropped by up to 80 percent in the last century due to coastal development.
Under a current state permitting process, developers are allowed to bury alive some of the reptiles as they make way for construction. Under the upgraded classification, a new management plan will be devised that will limit those live burials.

What great news. 60 million years...vs...costal development. Yep, better get the law involved. Amazing. Nanci, do you have a picture of the gopher turtle that outran you on the recent marathon?Originally Posted by Nanci

No, not of him. I posted, I think, a link up in the race report section in the Wickham Park thread, to a web page that has pictures of them.

Ooh - I'm a bit on the PMSy side of things today. It always sneaks up on me. I get a bit snitty or impatient or whatever and then I go...ah, it's the Friday before. Yup. Usually recognizing why I'm a little out of character is enough to squelch it, but geez I cannot stand how it sneaks up on me or those around meJust venting...
On a happy note - I ran again this morning. I felt good and ran further and faster than yesterday. That's not saying much, but hey, it's better than nothing. I'm working 1/2 day today (normal for me on Fridays) and I'm going to ride in the 90F heat when I get home. That'll be fun. This will be the first day that I'm going to run and ride in the same day. Should be interesting.
So tired. I didn't get home from New Hampshire til 2 am. I hate flying. I hate connecting through Dulles. I hate waiting for the parking garage shuttle at 1 am when they hardly run any.
Sorry. Just whining.
I am really glad to be home!!It's nice to snuggle with the kid after being gone for a few days. And the dog was very demonstrative also! (So was DH, but he had to leave early this morning for work).

Welcome home! Sounds like glorious travellingDulles is the worst!
I'm heading home to go ride. It's going to be hot! I'm drinking tons of water in the car (1/2 hour commute) and eating a clif bar. Sport beans are going in the jersey with me. Gee, this is going to be fun.
Have a great ride, FIsh !! I gather the tubes came in...

Yup! The tubes came in and I changed the tire (rear) in under 20 minutes on my own! I was dirty and oh so proud!
BTW - I love the saddle! I did a 28 mile ride last Saturday and all parts felt great! I'm planning to go longer tomorrow!
Ride today was super hot (90F/99F real feel) - uck! I could feel waves of heat coming off the road. It was really nasty. I quit at 10 miles because I didn't want to kill myself for tomorrow. I'm riding at 5:30am - it'll be cooler then!
It's been so long I forgot what the new saddle even was...
I noticed today- I still have my little Post-It Note up, with April 26 and April 30 on it, the days the eagle babies were supposed to hatch... :-(

That's so sad Nanci. Have the other ones fledged yet? I haven't had a chance to watch in quite a while.
The saddle is the Terry Zero X. It has little/no cushioning, a cutout, and is awesome. It feels very supportive and keeps the girly bits happy. There is no pain anywhere with this saddle! MP suggested it - she has the non-X version I believe.
Indeedy I do have the non-X version. Got it about 4 years ago before they started making the X. Great saddle. Light, and not too much material going on.
My daughter and a friend are wandering around the streets outside barking. I can hear them echoing up the canyon. Kids are so weird.

My 2-year old would love that! He thinks he's a dog. It's particularly lovely when he comes up and licks my leg and then pants at me.Right now he's singing in the shower. When he was outside, he decided to dump the bubbles on his and his sister's head - hence the early bath.
I wondered why you didn't have the "x" version. I did bike maintenance on all of our bikes this afternoon - cleaned them up, lubed the chains, stuff like that. It was fun - really! I had a blast!
Ouch! I crashed! (see thread in OT). I'm sooooo sore. Hopefully the shakiness will go away soon.
Any suggestions on how to clean the giant ugliness on my leg?
Guess I got out of doing yardwork today...
You know - I just had a "discussion" at work on Thursday about why you should wear a helmet while riding. I kept saying that you never know what will happen and that if you crash without a helmet you could die! A bit dramatic - but boy oh boy am I glad I had a helmet and gloves on today!
